Step 4: Request a room on campus to hold the CLeW. Step 3: Pick a date- Remember to look at local high school calendars. See if this person would want to come talk to your Chapter in person to help you get started. This person will give you more details on what happens during a CLeW. You will work hand in hand with the HOBY Affiliate. ![]() Step 2: Contact your State CLeW Director or Leadership Seminar Chair to get approval from the State HOBY Affiliate in order to host the CLeW. Step 1: Create a HOBY Committee or use your Service Chair/Committee. For this blog post, we are going to talk about planning one as a Chapter. You can plan a CLeW individually or as a Chapter. There are no fees associated with attending a CLeW. CLeWs are organized, developed and implemented by local business leaders, civic groups, volunteers and HOBY alumni. HOBY CLeW students interact with local community leaders, participate in group activities and conduct community service projects. A typical CLeW is six to ten hours long, with 50-100 freshmen participants, and focuses on leadership as a discipline to be explored and learned. The Community Leadership Workshop (CLEW) is HOBY’s introductory one-day leadership program for high school freshmen. Volunteering for a HOBY CLeW was one way that I could utilize that passion, however, planning my own CLeW has taught me more about myself and new skills that I can even use in the workplace, all while giving back. However, after my first time volunteering at a HOBY Community Leadership Workshop (CLeW), I realized I had a passion for teaching students leadership skills. At first, I volunteered to understand HOBY a little bit more so that I was well informed when Members asked questions about ways to volunteer. Step On Bindings are universally compatible with all current mounting systems including 4x4, 3D and The Channel. My journey with HOBY started as a volunteer after Phi Sigma Pi and HOBY entered into a philanthropic partnership at the 2015 National Convention. It also provides a more secure and responsive connection between the rider and the board, which can improve the rider's control and performance. The benefits of the Step On binding system include its speed and convenience, which can save riders time and hassle when getting in and out of their bindings. To release the binding, the rider presses a lever located at the back of the binding with their foot, and the heel cleat releases from the hook. To use the Step On binding system, the rider steps onto the binding, aligns the heal cleat on their boots with the heal cleat on the binding, and presses down which secures both the heal and toe cleats in place. The snowboard boot has corresponding cleats on the sole of the boot that clip into the hooks on the binding. The binding features two hooks that are located at the toe and heel of the binding. The Step On binding system consists of two main components: the binding itself and the compatible snowboard boot. Instead, it uses a simple and intuitive system that allows the rider to step into the binding and secure their boot with a quick and easy motion. In 2017, Burton released their Step On binding system - A revolutionary new snowboard binding technology that eliminates the need for traditional straps and buckles.
